This is a shot from the day I first interviewed at the Orphanage. After the interview I wandered around the Presidio in San Francisco and took this shot just as it started to rain. This was actually a much wider shot. I was standing under a bridge to keep from getting wet. I just liked something about the small group of trees that seemed so isolated from everything else. So I cropped in on them.

This is another shot from a day when I wandered around while work was having a power outage. Its a favorite photo of mine. There is just something about it that is appealing. With the sunset just around the corner, it seems like a quite place away from the action and the contrast between the strong hues of the sky and light and the subtle ones of the buildings is something I wish was in more of my work.

After a brief break I am back to work. My car got broken into last month. I have spent the past month on a journey of getting my car back to the shape it was in before the break in.

I thought I would be safe with a $60 radio, who would want to steal that right? Considering the money I have had to spend repairing the window, door, and dash board... my next radio will the taken out and left in the passenger seat ready to go with the doors unlocked. : )

On the upside though I paid off the car a couple of months ago and its now all mine. I have taken the opportunity (since I have been running around to mechanics and dealers for parts) to get the car some much needed attention. It is a freeing feeling to have that debt off my hands.

I lived for several years as an adult without a car. I recommend it to everyone to do at some point. It makes you realize how silly the whole culture surrounding them is and it makes you appreciate the car you have all the more. I always remember one day years ago when I was eating lunch in, at the job I had at the time, and one of my co-workers who had always made his hatred of the car pool lane known, went into a big "its my right as an American to have a comfortable and quick drive to work and drive my car where ever I please" speech.

I had a chance when work had a power outage to take off early and snap some shots of San Francisco. I diverged from my usually path home, parked and walked Judah Street 33 blocks down to the ocean.

We took the BART and the MUNI, parts of San Francisco's train system, to go see a art show at Giant Robot. It was made up of a variety of artists all doing work based on the theme of "tree". As with every trip to a Giant Robot store, there were lots of magazines/figures I wanted to buy. Unlike usual, I managed to resist as I am dirt poor until work starts.

My free days are winding down. It amazing how fast time can go by. I think I will try and spend the last few days hiking and photographing things. I did a lot less of that than I wanted to the past 6 months.

While waiting for an interview today I wondered around the Presidio in San Francisco. This picture is from underneath the 101 before it goes up the the Golden Gate Bridge. The ground was slanted and a path had formed on the side of the hill. When I looked at it closely I saw that the feet that made it were tiny. Pigeons had made it. Further on down the path I encountered a group of pigeons moving in single file down the path. We all moved by each other quietly. It reminded me of how people act when you pass by them while hiking, eyeing you carefully and then nodding in acknowledgement.

A few weekends ago my friend Leo came to visit and we went across the Golden Gate Bridge. The next day, Leo, Nathan, Kerrie, Ocala and I explored the area around there. Fort Point was really interesting. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera, I know I know... you're shocked. : )
